Fast Re-integration of Shadow Free Images

چکیده
In imaging applications, computation is often carried out in a derivative (gradient) domain. For example, we can attenuate small image differences by thresholding the gradient and then reintegrate. Unfortunately, the reintegration is an expensive task. Reintegration is often carried out in 2D (usually using 2D Fourier transform) or through multiple 1D paths as in Retinex. In this paper, we show that using a small number of non-random paths, each of which is a tour the size of the image, is an effective and fast method for reintegration. We apply our method to the problem of reintegrating a shadow free gradient derivative image. Results are competitive with those obtained using 2D methods. Yet, the reintegration presented here is an order of magnitude quicker.

Numerical integration of governing simultaneous system of equations is performed by Gauss quadrature and new modified nodal integration techniques. Numerical examples and tests have...
متن کاملCMPT 828: A shadow removal implementation
In this report we will discuss a simplified implementation of a shadow removal method. The key idea of the method is entropy minimization of the input image. An illuminant invariant image is computed and analyzed in order to extract shadow edges. The shadow edges are then feed into an image re-integration scheme that produces a colored intrinsic image that is free of dominant shadow. We discuss...
متن کاملHamiltonian Path based Shadow Removal
For some computer vision tasks, the presence of shadows in images can cause problems. For example, object tracks can be lost as an object crosses over a shadow boundary. Recently, it has been shown that it is possible to remove shadows from images. Assuming that the location of the shadows are known, shadow-free images are obtained in three steps. First, the image is differentiated. Second, the...

متن کاملA multi-scale convolutional neural network for automatic cloud and cloud shadow detection from Gaofen-1 images
The reconstruction of the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow is an important step in pre-processing of high-resolution satellite images. The cloud and cloud shadow automatic segmentation could be the first step in the process of reconstructing the information contaminated by cloud and cloud shadow. This stage is a remarkable challenge due to the relatively inefficient performanc...
